Runners Up – Rigby Gala

Well done to all swimmers that were racing at the Jamie Rigby Gala last weekend. As usual, we opted to race two teams to ensure everyone had a chance to race at this special club event that we hold in memory of Jamie every year.

A total of 58 swimmers represented the club for Ilkeston Blue and Ilkeston White! Our squad consisted of several experienced swimmers and many younger development squad swimmers who raced on the night making their debut in the memorial gala.

The 16 swimmers making their debuts were; Elliot Bestwick, Eleanor Moore, Arwen Moore, Fern Hunter, Reece Tait, Holly Newton, Emmi Charlesworth, Leo Charlesworth, Leo Allanson, Olivia Dougan, Caitlyn Cooke, Katie Tompkins, Gabriel Rawson, Adham Zilante, Chloe Pearson, and Owen Sheehan making his comeback.

A very close gala once again from start to finish with all teams racing aiming to be crowned Champions of the Rigby Gala. Congratulations to Belper Marlins on the night who won the gala. A fantastic second place finish and eight place finish for our two teams. Team Ilkeston Blue proving victorious in the Cannon, which was a great way to finish the evening on a high.

DX May Meet

Sorry for the delay with the write up for the DX May Meet. Here it is…

Three Team Ilkeston swimmers were racing at the DX level one open at Ponds Forge on 20th/21st May. All of the swimmers were having their first taste of a level one open meet racing against some of the fastest swimmers chasing National qualifications.

Over the course of the weekend, the trio raced in a handful of events each, both coming back with a medal each in their respective categories as follows; Eja Coe – silver in the 100m Butterfly, James Wright – bronze in the 400m Freestyle, and Tegan Hulme – bronze in the 100m Backstroke.

Executing great race skills and improving on LCM pbs, we looked stronger and more efficient in key skill areas such as our starts and turns.

Well done swimmers.

The results for this meet will be uploaded to the members area shortly

Well done Charlie

Congratulations to Charlie for qualifying to race at the British Championships in the 400m Freestyle, and the English Nationals in the 1500m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley.
