Rotherham Results

Twenty swimmers were representing the club in the final open meet of the season which was held at Ponds Forge. The Rotherham Metro Meet was aimed at A & B grade swimmers. Team Ilkeston swimmers were; Alicia Bull, Amber Wilkins, Angela Guilfoyle, Chloe Pearson, Eja Coe, Emma Wilkins, Erica Beharall, Erin Pickard, Ethan Hulme, Eve Beharall, Hannah Mitchell, James Wright, Leah Woodhead, Leo Allanson, Lewis Guilfoyle, Paige Baldwin, Sophie Stone, Tegan Hulme, Thomas Ingram and Tristan Guilfoyle.

Throughout the two day meet there were some outstanding performances for the end of season meet along with many PBs and medals in both categories.

Session one and two produced 24 A grade swims and 42 B grade swims! A total of 45 PBs. A grade (13); 9 gold, and 4 silver. B grade (6); 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

Medal winners in the A category were:

Eja Coe – Gold in the 200m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Butterfly. Silver in the 200m Backstroke. James Wright – Gold in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Individual Medley, 100m Freestyle. Silver in the 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle. Erin Pickard – Gold in the 400m Freestyle.

Medal winners in the B category were:

Eve Beharall – Gold in the 50m Freestyle. Emma Wilkins – Silver in the 100m Backstroke. Bronze in the 200m Backstroke. Chloe Pearson – Silver in the 100m Backstroke. Paige Baldwin – Silver in the 50m Freestyle. Tegan Hulme – Bronze in the 400m Freestyle.

Session three and four produced 18 A grade swims and 58 B grade swims! A total of 54 PBs. A grade (11); 6 gold, and 2 silver and 3 bronze. B grade (14); 1 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze.

Medal winners in the A category were:

Eja Coe – Gold in the 100m Individual Medley, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke. Silver in the 200m Breaststroke. Bronze in the 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle. James Wright – Gold in the 50m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle. Silver in the 100m Butterfly. Bronze in the 400m Freestyle.

Medal winners in the B category were:

Emma Wilkins – Gold in the 400m Individual Medley. Bronze in the 200m Freestyle. Erin Pickard – Silver in the 100m Individual Medley. Eve Beharall – Silver in the 100m Individual Medley, 400m Individual Medley. Bronze in the 100m Freestyle. Ethan Hulme – Bronze in the 50m Freestyle. Erica Beharall – Silver in the 200m Breaststroke. Bronze in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke. Tegan Hulme – Silver in the 200m Freestyle. Angela Guilfoyle – Silver in the 400m Individual Medley. Chloe Pearson – Bronze in the 50m Backstroke. Tristan Guilfoyle – Bronze in the 50m Freestyle.

Charity Swim

Well done to Elliot, Eja, Emma, Amber and Alicia who all took part in the Charity swim raising funds for the Umbrella Charity and Ilkeston SC. All five swimmers swam for thirty minutes continuously and, in total they raised £190 of which they have given £95 to the club. Well done swimmers and thank you to everyone who sponsored them.

DX – Spectacular Results…

Well done to swimmers that competed at the DX Spectacular on Saturday 1st July at Ponds Forge. A total of seven swimmers were representing Team Ilkeston at the long course competition. The swimmers were; Alicia Bull, Eja Coe, Erin Pickard, Ethan Hulme, Finley O’Neill, Leo Allanson and Tegan Hulme.

All swimmers raced well with great skills and were rewarded for their efforts. New PB’s recorded with first time long course times for Alicia, Finley & Leo.

Gold for Finley in the 200m Freestyle. Whilst Eja gained a Gold in the 100m Backstroke, Silver in the 50m Backstroke & Butterfly, and Bronze in the 200m & 100m Freestyle.

Land Training with DE7 Fitness

Swimmers: Main Squad & Invited Development Squad (10+ year olds)

Ilkeston Swimming Club have teamed up with DE7 Fitness in Ilkeston.

The gym is run by Louise & Gary Atkin and they will be taking our land training sessions on Friday evenings at 19:00-20:00pm. The session costs just £1 per swimmer and this can be paid to the Ilkeston Club Chaperone on arrival. You must sign in on our register. A staff member of Ilkeston SC will stay for the duration of the session.

Please make sure you come to the land training sessions with suitable clothing and footwear to enable you to carry out the activities. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water or juice too!

Elliot’s Charity Swim…

Hello all, please see the below message from the Bestwick’s.


As part of his NCS (National Citizenship Scheme) Community project Elliot Bestwick is going to swim for Half Hour non-stop. He has asked a few of his mates to join him which means the proceeds will be split between the Charity of Umbrella and Ilkeston Swimming Club.

It is taking place on Monday 17th July 2017, as part of their training.

If you would like to sponsor the children, if possible can you pay as you sponsor them. All money is required to be given to Elliot on Thursday 20 July 2017.

Open Water Success…

Leah Burgin-Rawson competed in the Open Water Regional’s last weekend at Bosworth water in Leicestershire. It was a great day for competing in open water event with the weather conditions just right. It was the first time that Leah had competed in a competition of this sort, and she had started off with a distance of 1.5km.

The final results placed Leah in joint second place with B. Harper of Northampton in a time of 18:11.00. That means that Leah has qualified for the National Open Water competition, which will be held in the near future at Rother Valley Water Park.

Well done and congratulations Leah!

DX L3 October Open – 7th & 8th

The entry pack for the Derventio eXcel 7th Short Course Level 3 Open Meet is now available. It will be held at the ARC Leisure Centre, Matlock on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October 2017.

As it is a level 3 open meet and it is first come first serve, entries will need to be handed into Leeann Pickard by Monday 17th July 2017.
