IMG_0946[1]For a small Club, it was a great achievement with each swimmer deserving a mention for great racing, making it too difficult to choose a ‘Swimmer of the Meet’! Well done to; Leo Charlesworth, Alfie Brown, Oliver Macey, Finley O’Neil, Louie Stadler, Fred Buckingham, Ollie Palmer, Leo Allanson, Lewis Brown, George Buckingham, James Wright, George Riley, Ryan Kirk, Elliot Bestwick, Joshua Bestwick, Emmi Charlesworth, Ella Sloan, McKinley Cotton, Freya Miller, Arwen Moore, Caoimbhe Kirkland, Eja Coe, Alicia Bull, Erin Pickard, Erica Beharall, Holly Dobbs, Erin Miller, Delainey Cotton, Eve Beharall, Sophie Jackson.

A big thank you goes out to:
Coaches – Richard Tomlinson, Steph Brown, Dan Sloan
Team Managers – Victoria Bull, Claire Cotton, Kay Charlesworth, Leeann Pickard, Kate Beharall, Isobel Coe
Ilkeston Parents who volunteered to officiate over the two weekends and for all parents continuing support.

After taking on the Head Coach role 5 months ago, Richard Tomlinson has seen the swimmers build in confidence, with recent success in the Arena League, Derbyshire Sprints, Rotherham Meet and now Derbyshire County Championships. Richard has introduced some big changes in the reconstruction of squads and training cycles, with the swimmers rising to the new challenges. Ilkeston Swimming Club has a Development Programme from young swimmers, new to competition, to the top end of competitive swimming, with a great group of Coaching Staff, Committee Members and Parents working hard to support and further develop the success of the Club.

NOTE: April Open Meet – Change of Plan!

The Club is cancelling Leeds Level 1 Open Meet (16/17 Apr) in favour of the Chesterfield Level 3 Spring Qualifier (6/7 April), at Matlock ARC, in order to offer a last opportunity for swimmers to secure regional qualifying times (closing date of 11 Apr for Regionals). This Meet is open to ALL Squads and the entry conditions and form can be found here:

Please ensure all entries are with Leeann by Thurs 28 FEB (entry form or e-mail ALL required info to, with exact payment PLUS £1 per swimmer/per day (cash, cheque or bacs – all Leeds entries will be returned at the first opportunity). Kate, Sharon or Victoria will pass entries to me if I miss you at training.

1st Counties Weekend: note from Richard

To all who competed at Counties this weekend… did the Club proud with an amazing effort all round and fantastic results!  I will produce a full write up after the 2nd weekend, with all results.  Thank you to the Coaches and Team Managers; Steph, Dan, Victoria, Kay, Claire, Leeann, Kate and Isobel for their support.  Also a big thanks to Claire and her support team for organising and running the Tombola on Sunday with around £120 raised for Club funds – well done!
