DASA Sprints, Ponds Forge – Sun 15 Dec

A group of 34 swimmers representing ISC competed at the DASA Long Course Sprints, after a late night Arena final the night before. The swimmers didn’t lose their focus, with improvement on skills throughout the meet, especially on starts and finishes. There were more regional times gained throughout the day, with some really impressive times achieved, and an introduction of mixed relays for the first time for 13yrs/under and 14 yrs/over with more impressive results.  The 13 yrs/under took Silver in both the freestyle and medley relays in a closely fought race for Gold.
Freestyle Team: Erin Pickard, Erica Beharall, Fred Buckingham and Finley O’Neil.
Medley Team:  Erin Pickard, Fred Buckingham, Eja Coe and Finley O’Neil.
Stats for the meet were; 17 medals won, 21 top 6 places and a 64%pb rate achieved.
A great finish to the last meet of 2019!  Medal winners were:

Fred Buckingham – Gold 50 brst, Bronze 50 fly&50 free, Silver free & medley relays.
James Wright – Bronze 50 breast, 50 back and 50 free.
Finley O’Neil – Silver freestyle and medley relays.
Arwen Moore – Bronze 50 free and 50 fly.
McKinley Cotton – Bronze 50 fly.
Erin Pickard – Silver freestyle and medley relays.
Erica Beharall – Silver freestyle relay.
Eja Coe – Silver medley relay.
There were also awards picked up on the day by Eja Coe for Inter-Counties selection and McKinley Cotton for Junior Grand Prix top girl.

Well done all a great way to round off the year.  Thanks go to Dan Sloan, supporting coach, the team managers and parents for their great support over the weekend.

Arena Division 3 Final – Sat 14 Dec

ISC swimmers travelled to Redditch for a first ever Arena Final against tough opposition. With expectations high, in a closely fought contest, with some amazing performances in both individual and relay events and positions changing all the time, it was a fight for promotion and the swimmers gave it their all.  There were impressive relays by the girls and boys 13 years and under and the girls cannon at the end, with competition not good for the heart rate as the top 4 go up…

Ilkeston finished 5th on the night, with a controversial decision on the 4th team place so we now wait to see if we have qualified for promotion.  No matter what the result, we have achieved an amazing result to reach the final, so well done to all swimmers and coaching staff in getting there.

Thank you to the team managers and parents on the night – there was a lot of shouting and cheering going off!   Head Coach Richard

Annual ASA Fees

Dear Ilkeston Club Member

The annual ASA Fee is now being requested from Swim England (you will have paid this when you first joined and it is a one off fee each year).

This is the fee that covers your swimmer for insurance as well as (when the time comes) posts their swim times onto the ASA Website.

This fee is not an option and as Club we do not make any money from this fee as it is all passed onto ASA.

This fee has to be completed in full by all members by 31st January 2020.

If we do not make this deadline we are fined by Swim England and the swimmers are not allowed to swim.

As Membership Secretary I do not want to incur a fine.

Therefore I would be grateful if you could pay the fee before the 31st January 2020.

The fee has been increased by ASA/Swim England this year.

If your swimmer is 9 by the end of Dec 31st 2020 (and are in any squad apart from Foundation) – They are Category 2 swimmer and the fee is £40

If your swimmer is under 9 by the end of 31st Dec 2020 – They are Category 1 swimmer and the fee is £20

If your swimmer is over the age of 9 by the end of  31st Dec 2020 and in Foundation – They are category 1 swimmer and the fee is £20.

Please use your reference code your ‘s’ number for payment and ‘ASA Fees’ to help when we check fees.

If you have any concerns or queries please discuss with Claire on the return email or Emma (as we are both usually poolside most days) or with your coach

Many thanks for your cooperation

Membership Secretary.
